Research interests: My research focuses on the development of specialized algorithms and methods for the modeling, inversion and data processing in seismic exploration. Main topics include:
- inversion of pre- and poststack seismic data for the identification and characterization of geological units of interest (including thin-beds), both for the exploration of natural resources (oil, gas) and for the subsurface storage of carbon dioxide (the main greenhouse gas);
- detection and identification of seismic signals with application to the automatic picking of first arrivals and other seismological phases;
- wavelet estimation using higher-order statistics, sparse-spike deconvolution and frequency enhacement techniques.
