  • Call for domestic PhD students at the University of Western Australia

Dear colleagues,

The University of Western Australia (UWA) node of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) invites applications for its PhD program from domestic students.

ICRAR is one of Australia's top astronomical research institutes. Established in 2009 as a high profile equal joint venture between Curtin University and UWA, ICRAR is a leading organization in the international Square Kilometre Array project.

ICRAR/UWA hosts a vibrant and friendly research environment where PhD students carry out cutting-edge projects in observational and theoretical astrophysics, often including work in "Big Data" methodologies and technologies. ICRAR/UWA researchers play leading roles in programs that exploit state-of-the-art radio telescopes (e.g. ASKAP), such as WALLABY and DINGO, exquisite multi-wavelength datasets (e.g. GAMA, DEVILS, WAVES, SAMI, MAGPI), and the latest galaxy formation models run on powerful HPC facilities, such as the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre.

Situated on the Swan River, UWA is one of Australia's most picturesque campuses. Its open courtyards, lush and verdant, are a place to study and relax, taking advantage of Perth's beautiful climate.

A range of PhD scholarships are available, including prestigious full and top up scholarships, RTP Stipends, UPAs. To read about ICRAR/UWA's potential PhD projects visit this link.

Applicants are requested to apply via UWA's application webpage by the 31st of October 2022. We would appreciate if you could share this with interested students.

ICRAR/UWA is committed to equity and diversity and encourages applications from all qualified candidates. For any queries please email phd_uwa@icrar.org or applications-grs@uwa.edu.au.

Best regards,

A/Prof Claudia Lagos (on behalf of ICRAR/UWA's PhD selection panel)

  • Pre/Post-doc positions available at University of Alicante Planetary Science team

Dear colleagues,

1) The Planetary Science team at the University of Alicante (Spain) is issuing a 2-yr postdoc position in the frame of a coordinated national project with Dr. Jens Ormö at CAB-INTA in Madrid. The project is called CRATERS.The UA leg is more focussed on statistical work and numerical modelling with application to small bodies and related to the DART (NASA) and Hera (ESA) space missions. Please, don't hesitate to ask for more details.

2) Find attached a list of other (pre- and) postdoc positions to join our group. Most calls will open in early fall. Our group is currently involved in the DART and Hera missions, but our research interests span from collisional evolution to statistics, dynamics and internal structure of small bodies (asteroids, comets and TNOs). Candidates with observational background are also welcome. Some positions need to be backed by our research group and Institute, so, please, contact me if you are interested.

Feel free to forward this to potentially interested people.

Thank you very much for your attention.
